About Us
Since 2010, our family been building the Playa Central community for wind and water enthusiasts.
Our Story
way back in the year 2000, The Withington family started kiteboarding.
In Cozumel Dan, our dad, picked up the sport and taught us kids how to launch and land his kites. Body drags started around the age 10 and 15 for Adam, Jessica, Olivia and Vivien, and eventually we all became advanced kiteboarders. Our mom, Veronica, has met so many of our kiteboarding friends who’ve become family over the years, and she loves being our cheerleader during races and tournaments attended and hosted by our family over the years.
After years in Cozumel our family visited La Ventana for the first time in 2007 and knew there was something extra special here in Baja. While Adam was busy training for racing and freestyle competitions, Dan and Jessica started Playa Central in 2010. Right away we built a wood oven for the delicious pizzas that we craved and opened a kiteschool to share our love of kiting with friends. Since then, each of our family members has spent time working the kite school, developing the incredible atmosphere, adding to the icon yellow building in La Ventana and shaking up our World Famous Margaritas for our friends..
The intention has always been to create a family friendly place for you to build your kiteboarding community, and to be a venue for awesome kite vacations and events. Playa Central has hosted kite races and events over the years, and it is one of the Withington’s favorite things to host.

Your Hosts
Adam
Adam has been racing and competing in freestyle events for over 10 years. La Ventana has been his favorite training location but he has enjoyed the wind all around the world. Adam is loving wing foiling and would love to teach you his technique! When you visit us in La Ventana, you’ll almost definitely bump into Adam at the shop.
Jessica
Born and raised in Cozumel, she grew up as been a beach kid and sees herself always living near the sea. She has a Bachelors of Science in Business Sustainability from Oklahoma State University and has a passion for renewable energy. From 2008-2013 she taught kiteboarding in La Ventana, Hood River and San Francisco. Today she helps out in the kite school, and her full time job is managing Playa Central’s two amazing restaurants.
